Happy Fall Dad!

It’s this time of year Dad that I do miss you more than other seasons. I remember the first October you were gone and how many times I would be driving down the road and think about you. Or I would be listening to the stories of those getting ready to go bow hunting. Or those who had spotted a big buck by their house. Listening to those getting their deer stands ready or just watching the leaves fall. There were days I wanted you to be here so you could still be walking back on your trail to go hunting. Days when I wanted to share a story about the deer that crossed in front of me on Kent road. Days when I wanted to look at the leaves and how they were changing with you. Or an afternoon I wanted to walk down the trail with you and go back to your hunting blind (or as Mom calls it your treehouse). It is in these moments that I need to be happy for the memories. However, what I should be most happy about is that you are in a better place with the best views ever. In your dream you told me how amazing and beautiful heaven is. You said it is so beautiful you couldn’t even find the proper words to describe it. So as I watch the leaves change this year, listen to the stories of others hunting, or see the posts about bow season on Facebook I will smile and remember you Dad. I will take time to thank God for the memories. I will take time to write a letter to you. I will take time to take in the beauty of the fall season. I will share these moments with my children and we will share our funny memories of you, Dad. I will let the kids get the bows out at your house and practice. Hopefully, we don’t lose another arrow. It took Mom a couple days to find the last one. You know how she never gives up on finding something lost. Although, there is still the one arrow on the ditch that was never found, and yes she still wonders where it went. We will make new memories Dad while we think about you. Now it’s time for me to go enjoy this fall season. Love you Dad!
