Circle of Influence

Today, I have been thinking a lot about my circle of influence. It is interesting to think of how my circle has changed over the years. The friends that have come and gone. The number of coworkers as well. How sometimes I was not as protective over my circle. Even how sometimes I allowed the circle to be bigger than it needed to be. Now how protective and selective I am in those I allow to be in my circle of influence. I am sure many of you have heard that you become like the five people you hang around the most. You begin to talk like them, dress like them, eat like them, think like them, look like them, and even make the same amount of money as them. I have heard many speakers say tell me about your five closest friends and I will tell you what your future will look like. After this stay at home quarantine it would be interesting to conduct a new study. My circle consisted of my 13 year old, my 10 year old, and my husband. Thank goodness it finally has been lifted. Seriously though, who do you let into your circle? Do you need to be more selective or maybe you even need to let others in? Maybe you need to let your guard down and trust in others. Maybe you need to evaluate whether you need to seek new mentors. What I mean by that, is if you are the most faith filled person in your circle who could mentor you in that area? If you are the most physically fit person in your circle, who could mentor you in that area? If you are the most financially stable in your circle, who could mentor you or what podcast could you listen to? Do you know that the size of a tropical fish is determined by the size of the tank it lives in. So swim outside of your comfort zone. Challenge yourself to add someone new to your circle. Evaluate whether there is anyone who you need to spend less time with. Expand your fish tank if you will.
