we didn’t allow social media and/or the news to influence our thoughts? As I sit here and think about what occurred yesterday I am saddened by this world my children will have to grow up in and work in. Then my next thought is God is still on the throne. I just need to find my peace in talking to my Heavenly Father and my Earthly Father in Heaven. I need to call out to Him. I do; however, want to talk about how much our thoughts are controlled by social media and the news. I was scrolling through Facebook yesterday looking for a specific post when I came across a friend’s post about praying for the nation. We hardly ever have the news on in my home (not saying this is good or bad), but I was not aware of what was happening at the Capitol. I swiped my phone to the right, so I could read the latest CNN news articles. Later in the evening, I hopped on Facebook to be connected to a zoom call and was saddened by the hate and anger on so many posts. This hate and anger is stemmed (in my opinion) by the wording of posts on social media and/or news. Why? Why do we allow social media to control the direction of our thoughts? Why don’t we follow the steps we were taught in school to gather the credible information and then come to a conclusion (that still maybe inaccurate)? Also, why does society feel we need to post every feeling we have throughout the day on social media? I think we all need to follow these three simple rules. I think it would be interesting to see the effect it would have on today’s society. For the young children and future generations, let’s see if we can make a difference on our world and their world by doing our part.
- Love God and love people.
- Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
- If you don’t have anything nice to say (or post), don’t say (or post) anything at all.
